Buck Island-Simmonsville Sanitary Sewer Phase 5

This project includes the design and installation of sanitary sewer lines and pump station for the remaining portions of the Buck Island-Simmonsville Neighborhood that are currently un-served by public sewer. The BIS Phase 5 sanitary sewer project is the final phase of a collaborative effort with BJWSA and will include sanitary sewer service connections to all existing homes within the project area. This phase consists of 3,826 linear feet of 8" sanitary sewer main, the abatement of 33 septic tanks, and 1,054 linear feet of water main. Additionally, newly identified phase 5E will extend to the town western boundary along May River Road serving nine properties.

Chapter 7 of the Town of Bluffton's Comprehensive Plan identified the provision of sanitary sewer and water infrastructure as an important component of Community Facilities. This project also conforms to the direction in Chapter 10 of the Comprehensive Plan in which Federal and State funding (e.g., CDBG funds) should be sought for public infrastructure. The construction of sanitary sewer and water infrastructure was identified as a key recommendation in Chapter 6 of the Buck Island-Simmonsville Neighborhood Plan. Finally, Town Council's annual assessment of community needs identified "Sewer and Water" as one of their top priorities.
