Town offices closed June 18 in observance of Juneteenth

Town offices will be closed Friday, June 18 in observance of Juneteenth.

Last year, Town leaders declared Juneteenth a holiday for the Town.

Juneteenth, which is word meaning June 19th, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. While President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation January 1, 1863, it took more than two years for the news to reach Galveston, Texas.  June 19, 1865 is the date which completed the celebration of freedom of enslaved people in America. This date honors the freedom of all people living in the United States.

Town Hall business hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  On Fridays, the Town of Bluffton is open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Please call the Town’s main phone number for more information: 843.706.4500.
