The Town of Bluffton is hosting a public workshop to discuss short-term rentals, such as Airbnb and Vrbo (Vacation Rental by Owner). The purpose of the workshop is to seek input when considering options for local regulatory criteria which would best serve the Bluffton community. This workshop will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019, 6 p.m. at Henry “Emmett” McCracken, Jr. Town Council Chambers (20 Bridge Street).
Identified as a priority by Town Council in the Fiscal Years 2019-20 Town of Bluffton Strategic Plan, Town staff is examining best practices related to the regulation of short-term vacation rentals. Town staff members have researched best practices in other municipalities and well as established a focus group to consider potential regulatory criteria for short-term rentals. The focus group met in early May 2019 to discuss how different cities have regulated this industry within their individual jurisdictions. Input received will be presented to Town Council to aid in future policy decision.
