Welcome and thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at the Bluffton Police Department. There are several areas within the department where a volunteer can provide their time and expertise.
Front Desk
The most common area is the front desk. There, each volunteer welcomes visitors as they enter the police department. This is a very important role due to you being the initial impression on a visitor. At the front desk, you are also responsible for answering the phones and assisting in a variety of areas.
Community Assistance Response Efforts (C.A.R.E.)
Our volunteers also help with our C.A.R.E. program. C.A.R.E. is an outreach program designed for disabled, homebound, or elderly residents who have elected to be in the program. If a volunteer chooses to be part of C.A.R.E., that volunteer will call the resident once or twice a week to chat and check on their well-being. If volunteers are unable to make contact, or if the volunteer detects a problem, an officer is sent by the home to check on the individual.
Volunteer Application
Background checks are conducted on all those who apply to be a volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the Bluffton Police Department, please complete a Bluffton Police Department Volunteer Application (PDF). Please email Lieutenant Michael Danyov with any questions.
